No sooner do I write up TwittLink, then do I continue on down my list of sites to check out today and hit TBUZZ, arguably an even easier and faster way to share sites on Twitter. Whereas with TwittLink, a site owner has to install a bit of JavaScript in their site’s header, TBUZZ works solely through a bookmarklet.
If you simply go to this page and drag the bookmarklet into your browser’s toolbar, you’re ready to go. When you’re on a page you want to share, you simply click on the bookmarklet, and a Twitter app overlay will appear. Once you authenticate yourself via OAuth, you’re set to start tweeting.
What’s nice about TBUZZ is that a short Bit.ly link is pre-populated for you in the window, and then you simply write whatever else you want about the page you’re on. If you highlight certain text before hitting the bookmarklet, it will also pre-populate that text in your tweet window.
A potentially really nice feature is that below the “Tweet” area in this overlay is the “Buzz” area. Here you will find what others are saying about this page. Sadly, it appears to be missing quite a few tweets about shared pages, but this could be intentional to filter out noise (tweets that simply retweet a page).
Unlike TwittLink, you can’t see other users who have tweeted directly about that site from the site. Nor can you see your main stream of tweets from other users you follow. But the Buzz element may be more interesting anyway, as it will undoubtedly have data that is more relevent to you. Of course, TwittLink still has the advantage of all users on your site having access to it versus only those that have the TBUZZ bookmarklet installed. TBUZZ easily has the nicer UI, though.
Pick you poison; lots of new options to tweet as quickly as possible from your own site today.
