For over five years, we’ve been bringing you different ways to share and communicate with the people you know, and as some of you noticed yesterday, we enabled another one. We’ve partnered with a service you may have heard of – Meebo – to bring you all the awesomeness of instant messaging, right on Multiply.

This helps make it easier and more fun to stay in touch with the people you know on Multiply. Your contacts (and only your contacts) will be able to see when you’re online, and contact you via IM.
That’s right, only your direct, approved contacts can see when you’re online, and only they can contact you. If you don’t want people IMing you, you can easily sign out of it by setting your status to “offline.” Or, as some members have already noted, visit My Account Info and “Disable the Multiply chat bar” to turn off the feature entirely.
